This 1985 Golden Spirit is one of only 1,500 examples produced by Zimmer Motorcars Corporation between 1978 and 1988. The "Golden Spirit" model was the brand's flagship model and was based on the chassis and drivetrain of the Ford Mustang 5.0, with a custom "neo-classical" body. The new price was US$62,000, which is equivalent to about US$160,000 today. The company was bought out and still sells new cars today for about US$180,000.
The car has been owned by the current owner for over three years and the odometer shows 40,182 miles.
The car has a German registration, which is very important, as it seems that by now you can no longer re-register this model if you import it fresh from the USA. This car already has a German registration and passed the test for the registration as an historic vehicle.
The paintwork is in good condition with some light scratches and stone chips. The chrome on the roof has some cracks and the rubber seals on the Zimmer emblems have come loose. The car had a minor accident at the sellers where the bumper was bent and the right wing was slightly scratched. This was repaired in a specialist workshop.
The interior is in good condition for the mileage with normal signs of use. The seat cheek is worn on the driver's seat.
In addition, the horn button is missing and there is a small paint stain in the glove compartment because a small touch-up stick has run out. There is also light wear to the ignition lock and the transmission tunnel trim on the driver's side. There are light scratches on the centre console as well as on the passenger window and some wear on the passenger seat back.
The starter doesn't always spurt out immediately, which will be fixed.
The vehicle's last MOT was carried out in April 2021 and was issued with no faults or warnings. It is valid until April 2023. Recent service in late 2022 included a new starter and fuel pump, along with the replacement of a faulty interior light switch. Additional service carried out in November 2019 involved a major service including new oil, brake lines, new valve covers, a new gearbox seal, fuel lines, a new radio and air conditioning servicing.
In addition, the left valve cover gasket was renewed again in April 2022.
